There&#8217;s also a .indd file for <strong>InDesign<\/strong>, if you have it, and a &#8220;getting started&#8221; PDF to walk you through it, though it may be faster to use the video above.<\/p>\n<p>These book formatting templates have several potential design choices and fonts: pick the one you want and remove the rest. Formatting a book is pretty difficult, because software like InDesign is expensive and old-school, and Microsoft Word is notoriously a dumpster fire for long documents.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past decade I&#8217;ve tried to make that easier, and this site is one of many I maintain for indie authors. You can download the free book formatting templates and they should help, but I also have a bunch of videos and tutorials so you can troubleshoot. If you&#8217;re looking for an instant solution&#8230; people have been trying for years to create one.
